Oi Litmock Peeps,

How are all you wonderful readers, writers and voters? Good I hope. Better than world affairs and global economies these days, I also hope! But let’s not get into such deep, gloomy subjects this newsletter, eh? Spring is coming, after the snowiest winter in the States in my lifetime, it is certainly welcome too. Let’s discuss happier topics, more things long term pertinent to Litmocracy and us, its denizens.

Hmm… Where to begin. I guess I’ll start with the biggest news that’s ever affected me, and it involves Litmocracy. I’m getting married it appears, and the person I intend to spend the rest of my life with if it all works out, I met right here at Litmocracy. It’s our very own, very special, very wonderful StarLizard.

Yerp.

Is true. We are engaged. Has been turbulent, whirlwind, storybook, and very, very, very difficult. The fairy tales and story books leave out the pain and suffering and difficult part, or they sure as hell gloss over them, but these things apparently are par for the true love course. Things are up in the air and out of our control in large part. As old Al Einstein said after divining the theory of relativity, “it’s complicated.”

She lives in Canada. I’m a damned Yankee. We have borders and hard travel with many miles between us, homes that have to be cared for when we see each other, work missed and costs involved, pasts and families, Visa’s and many, many complexities to deal with, but we are doing our best.

And I love her so very much it isn’t funny. It’s a love I never believed existed but it does. It’s meeting Santa Clause 35 years after you find out that Christmas isn’t real. After years of helping to build this site, and her helping me quite nicely with a good bit of excess freelance work, helping me meet deadlines and so forth, she came down last August and we almost instantly fell in love. The rest is history. Mad trips and being stranded (thankfully together), dog bites, countless issues I won’t get into. All I know is when we’re together I’m happy and productive and content and when we’re apart I’m a bombed out crater of a human being. Hopefully she can move here and we can build a business to generate more work for Litmock writers.

Anyway, in a way I have all of you to thank for this, particularly the site itself and even the ideals of Litmocracy, and you too Dave. We built this site with the intention of making this world a little bit of a better, freer place. It is somewhat ironic that my happiness rests outside my hands in a number of ways, but certainly meeting StarLizard has made this world a better place because it’s made me a better person. So we succeeded somewhat. If we all keep working maybe we succeed completely. I’ll keep you all posted.

Anyway, onto business. The Barb Terry Book is nearly complete and she will be doing a massive publicity tour this Summer, including appearances on Stern and some late night talk shows. Should do us all well.  Here’s the awesome cover:

Oh, and Prometheus has some stuff cooking as usual. Love this young writer’s hustle. That is how you improve. You work at it. Here is a review of his fine new journal, Recovering The Self: http://www.authorsaccess.com/writing/ghostwriting/ernest-dempsey-earn-extra-income-freelance-writing-for-the-web

Arightyo then. Back to the brutality of reality. Hope you all have great days. And thank you.
Don
